Mountain cray

Mountains are a fascinating phenomena, not just as visual but also as mysterious wonders. They preserve historical and geographical information that is visible or hidden, real or unreal. Each mountain has its unique characteristic, its own name and distinctive appearance and history in the form of stories passed down generations. With these topics as guidelines, an attempt was made to honour their spirit but also create new ones by merging them together in a visual and acoustic interaction. The mountains are given a voice by interpreting their landscapes of peaks and valleys to sound waves as well as their mysterious nature.

MOUNTAIN CRAY was a collaborative video and sound installation project with the designer Petra Valdimarsdóttir and the music producer and sound engineer Hjálmar Örn Gunnarsson.
