MY EVERYDAY NATURE

Two art pieces were created alongside the works of “my some kind of nature” for the exhibition Straws and Branches at the Museum of Design and Applied Art - organised by the Icelandic Textile Association. The works are based on a surrealistic photograph combining elements from man-made environments and nature. They consists of handmade- and oil treated paper, hand-dyed cotton gauze, and grasses, The bigger piece is assembled/intertwined into a single composition where varying degrees of transparency are achieved, allowing the visitor to blend into the surface. Black and white tones merge with the yellow of birch—the most common natural dye—creating contrasts with the elements depicted in the surface.
